Ted Lasso is a heartwarming and hilarious comedy series that follows the story of Ted Lasso, an American football coach who is hired to lead an English Premier League soccer team, despite having no experience coaching soccer. With his folksy charm and positive attitude, Ted tries to turn around the struggling team while navigating the cultural differences between American and English sports. About the famous biscuits featured in the show

Kitchen Tools

  • stand mixer with the paddle attachment (if you don't have a stand mixer, it's possible to make this recipe with a handheld electric mixer)
  • parchment paper - I suggest crumpling the parchment paper under water and then lining it in the pan, that way it will fit the pan snugly
  • baking spatula
  • offset spatula
  • flour sifter
  • measuring spoons and cups
  • 8x8-inch or 9x9-inch square baking pan (the one I use is Aluminum)
  • pink boxes, just like in the show! I included a link in the recipe card at the end of the post.
  • wax or parchment paper to line the boxes before putting the biscuits in

How to Make the Ted Lasso Biscuit Recipe

Please note, the full, printable version of the recipe is at the bottom of the post.

Step 1

  1. Preparation: Line an 8x8 or 9x9-inch square pan with parchment paper (Try this kitchen hack: I suggest crumpling up a sheet of parchment paper under water to get it pliable and then fitting it to the pan; Pat it dry before adding any biscuit dough)

Step 2

Make the biscuit batter:In the bowl of a stand mixer (with the paddle attachment, please note, a handheld electric mixer can work too, with this recipe), add the butter, and set it on high, for 3-5 minutes (the butter will turn paler in color). With the mixer running set down back to low speed, gradually add the ¾ cup of powdered (confectioner's) sugar. Continue to mix in until fully combined, pale, and fluffy. Turn off the mixer, sift in the 2 cups of all-purpose (unbleached) flour and the ¼ teaspoon kosher salt, put the mixer on low speed, and mix until it's just combined (please do not overmix the dough!). The biscuit dough will be thick and airy, you will need to use an offset spatula or your clean fingertips to get it in the square pan evenly. It should be about ½ inch thick in the pan. Cover the pan and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Step 3

Preheat the oven: Place your oven rack in the middle of the oven and preheat your oven to 300 degrees F (148 degrees Celsius).

Step 4

Bake the biscuits: Bake in the preheated oven for 45-60 minutes (45 minutes works for us!). When they are done, they should be set in the center and allowed to cool completely. Cut along the precut lines to separate. Enjoy!

Recipe Notes

  • Optional:You can add 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract or 1 vanilla bean pod scraped out (add the seeds/contents of the pod), to improve the flavor of the biscuits. I kept the recipe simple and close to the original recipe (see below) but I think this would be a nice addition. You would add this in at any point in the mixing process.
  • Butter: If you can, opt for the best quality butter that you can find for this recipe, since it's so simple, the butter flavor is a huge feature in this recipe, if you can just find regular butter, that's fine too, it will still be delicious.
  • Other Ingredient Suggestions:Citrus zest would be great in this recipe, as edible flowers mixed into the dough, or pressed edible on top.
  • Boxes: I added an Amazon affiliate link in this recipe card to the pink boxes that I found that are similar to the boxes in the Ted Lasso show. These are the same boxes that I use in the recipe photos in this post.
