It’s always a good time to celebrate the accomplishments (and incredible work) of Black creators – but especially so upon the arrival of Black History Month. From designers to artists, brand-builders to curators, we’re taking a look at the names you should know – and get inspired by.
In every creative field, the Black community has (and continues to) contribute so much – through inspiring interiors, impactful art, and unique and exciting products. And while much of their work has gone underappreciated for far too long, we’re here to recognize – and highlight – this tremendous pool of talent. To kick off Black History Month, we’re sharing just a few of our favorites to follow, support (and, of course, get endless inspiration).

As an Interior designer, blogger, environmental curator, and plant whisperer, there’s not much Carmeon can’t do. And through each of her endeavors, her motto is “love the way you live”. We couldn’t agree more.

Nicole Gibbons founded Clare as a streamlined alternative to the many, messy steps of painting. From samples that you simply stick to the wall to paint and supplies delivered right to your door, it’s certain to save you time (if only it could paint the walls for you too!)

Offering a plethora of prints that range from abstracts to inspirational messages to colorful portraits, this artist has got a piece to liven up just about any space.

For interiors that mix modern, classic, and eclectic (plus just the right amount of color) look no further than NY based designer Danielle Colding.

House Beautiful called this one of the best home stores in America for a reason. With an assortment of decor, an in-house line of candles, and lots of giftable goods, owner and designer Laura Hodges has what you’re looking for (even if you don’t know it yet).
EmmaMakeStudio
Based in Lisbon, Portugal, artist Emma Hall creates cute and covetable prints, postcards, and even wrapping paper in her signature graphic style. Plus many of her prints come in a print from home option.
Goodee
Goodee founders and designers Byron and Dexter Peart curate covetable (not to mention ethical and sustainable) objects from around the globe in this chic shop.

Kwaku Alston

One black designer who I love, love, love is Veronica Solomon. Her design studio is called Casa Villora. She has entirely changed the way I see color and patterns. I love every one of her designs.
